Well better really late than really never. I think. Anyways here's my final color mock up for the art order Hurakan character design challenge.

I really enjoy my the process this project has been taking and I'm looking forward to applying it to the final book cover.

Also as a really late special bonus here's a pumpkin.

Still only one cowboy. This is getting uncomfortable.

I'm still working on that art order challenge, and things are getting pretty interesting. To my surprise the artistic community seems to be a friendly and supportive place.

New Art order update. In this phase of the challenge we add a little bit of detail into our exploration with thumbnails. The catch being that we were only to use traditional media, which was kind of a nice return as I've been all digital lately. What's more it gave me a chance to try out a new type of media, a strange little water soluble powder called walnut crystals, which gives a result similar to a burnt umber water-colour. Anyways the my sketch process at this point is somewhat frenetic but it gives me some good direction as to which ideas are working at this point. Right now I'm somewhat favouring the bottom right design, but the but one above it with beings trapped within a snake like form above it holds a lot of cool factor.

I was lucky enough to have my work reviewed in the last stage of the project, and I'm actually pretty happy to hear that I seem to be on the right track. let's just hope I can sustain this spell (as a minor action).

Either the cowboys need to watch thier chaw, or the robot just peed on my sofa.

Well it's been about a week since my adventures in Seattle, and I'm learned and ready to go. Learned in what exactly, I'm not sure but I'll be sure to let you know once it becomes apparent.

In other news, I'm hoping to actually try and get some new drawings done, and as such I'm entering the latest challenge at the Art Order blog run by Jon Schindehette.
The challenge will be to go through the steps of designing a character for use in D&D settings in this case Hurakan, a storm god based on Mayan legend.

You can never say you know somebody, until you spend three months locked in a basment with them. The cowboys and I are are sure of that now. The little robot will pay.

Big update today, drawfaster.com finally has a gallery page.

It's been a big crazy summer and I've even managed to get some new drawings done.

I'll be spending the next week or so in Seattle, for my annual trip to PAX.

Hopefully it'll be a good chance to get some creative juices going and maybe meet some super cool people from the game industry.

Pics and such to follow, if I can stop being a lazy sack of bungles for 20 minutes.

The two Cowboys are trying to convince me that we need new drapes, I don’t see anything wrong with the old drapes. The little robot is avoiding the issue completely.

I've got some paintings to show you today. I've been exparimenting with acrylics latly and I'm wondering why I hadn't tried them earlier.

First off we have a dryad. According to wikkipedia the term dryad originally described a wood nymph that lived in an oak tree, but now has come to describe all wood nymphs. Interesting stuff!

Wake me up before you go go.

Next we have a choice encounter between two men with very different head. This is part of a much larger narrative that I've been working on, and will endevor to discuss on future posts.

more zombies

Lastly we have kind of a wrap up of my zombie project. Not too much to say here, but I get the feeling I'm starting to creep my classmates out. It may be time to come up with some more upbeat ideas, like big eyed dogs on black velvet or maybe Elvis on black velvet or a bottle of black velvet on black velvet.

Other than that I'm planning on forcing myself to update every wednesday, you know, just too keep it real.

The two cowboys have strong opinions on the historical accuracy of blazing saddles. The little robot and I have been forced to hide in the basement.

My girlfriend likes team fortress 2 quite a bit, so we made some jack o lanterns together. I did the painting, she did the actual carving, and we had a pretty good time with the whole endeavor.
